All of us must face challenges as we progress through life. We will encounter loss, painful transitions, conflicts, or a sense of helplessness. Sometimes we can feel very alone. Knowing that there is a safe place for one’s anxiety, anger, sadness and confusion can be the first step to healing and growth. In an environment of warmth, where genuineness is valued, I will affirm your strengths and challenge you to use them. Confusion, and even despair, is an opportunity to explore new ways of seeing oneself and new ways to relate to others. I have helped many individuals and couples work through difficult issues to achieve greater personal fulfillment and more satisfying relationships. My areas of expertise include:
Starting therapy for the first time or finding a new therapist can be an intimidating process. That is why I make it my mission to ensure that you feel comfortable and safe from the first moment we meet. Your choice of therapist is a very important decision. Finding a good match is an essential component of successful therapy. In our first session, I will assess your particular needs and together we will determine whether I am the right therapist for you!
The physical and emotional suffering that results from trauma can be overwhelming and often debilitating. However, with the right type of help and support it is possible to not only overcome the devastating effects that trauma can have, but also regain one’s ability to embrace life and reach one’s fullest potential. Many of my clients come to see me as a result of some form of trauma. That is why I decided to become a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) through the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. Somatic Experiencing is a specific approach to working with trauma that relies on the body’s instinctive capacity to heal as the means to regaining a sense of inner balance and control over one’s life. This approach ultimately enhances one’s resilience to stress and one’s capacity to actively engage in life again. If you would like to learn more about this approach or the training involved, please go to my Somatic Experiencing & Trauma page or visit the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.
